You had the Power...

Happy Wednesday!!  Hope you've had a wonderful week so far.

You had the Power all along My Dear.... that's the message I have to share with you today! I love the Wizard of Oz, So I knew exactly what I wanted to do with some of my new gorgeous pink rubber from VLVS! when it arrived..

I started by choosing my base paper again from the Nature Walk collection by 7Dots Studio, and stamped the tree and spider... I was nearly going to leave the tag like this.. I just  love the look of the two of them together, extra spooky.. these would be perfect just like this for a Halloween project..

I then stamped and fussy cut my witch silhouette image. I did this by just applying ink to her silhouette on the stamp, then wiping off any ink that may have been in areas that I didn't want inked before I stamped.  I found this worked really well with this particular stamp. I then fussy cut the image and added in a bit of black cotton thread before sticking her down with foam mounting tape. ( the tape helps to secure the cotton thread as well )

I then stamped the awesome Glinda the Good Witch from the Wizard of Oz saying   - You had the power all along, My dear and arranged it on the right hand side of the witch silhouette, once again using foam mounting tape, to add some dimension.

lastly I added in some UmWow Studio star confetti, and off course some Tim Holtz Idea-ology - I just love this Bat from the Halloween Adornments pack..,prima crystals and machine stitching  to finish it off.

Believe in your Journey.

Happy Friday! Hope everyone has had a great week!.
Today I have a collaged tag to share with you. It was nice to spend a little time playing with paper and ephemera and doing a little layering and modge podging!
This tag is yet again  basically me in a nut shell.. Grungy, vintage, collaged yumminess!!

I started with my #8 tag, a whole bunch of Tim Holtz paper and epherema, and of course my trusty bottle of modge podge! I started  to build layers on my tag,

Some elements I fussy cut, then more layering and modge poding. Until I was happy with how my layers looked. I then added a thin layer of modge podge over my entire tag.

After letting it dry I then outlined some of the pieces with my black soot distress marker,

the smudged each line to give  the elements a bit more depth and shadow.

Then a few random swipes of picket fence distress crackle paint..

While I was waiting for my  distress crackle paint to dry I stamped my chosen sentiment for my tag..

and then added some remnant rubs randomly around my tag, and smudged the edges of the tag using my black soot distress marker..

I then cut out and inked the edges of each word in my phrase with distress ink. Stuck them to my tag and  used my distress marker to define the edges.

And I was done.. or so I thought,

I then decided to add in another couple of elements and add in some machine stitching around the edges of the tag... This time I was done..

the tag is a little reminder to myself, to believe in where my art journey is taking me.. To do what makes my heart happy, not what I think others might like to see..

Dreaming of a July Challenge??

Wow, I cant believe it's July, this year really has flown by!!  I have my very first tag  that I've created for my new term designing with Viva Las VegaStamps! to share with you today.

This is my inspiration for the new July Inspiration Board Challenge. You can find all the details here. but this is what the board looks like...

I absolutely  love this board, it's got all my favourite things,  it's just so me! , neutral colours, a bit of  dreamy, vintage grungy splotchy goodness.. and the colour green!

Here is what this awesome board has inspired me to create..

It started off like this.. with a little paper from 7Dots Studio. The paper I've used is again from the Nature Walk line, I really am going to be in trouble when I run out of this!!, I couldn't decide which side of the paper to use , so I've used them both!
A couple of  Viva Las VegaStamps! stamps, and of course some Distress, ( loving the colour combo of seedless preserves and forest moss! ) with a little machine stitching added in for good measure...

I couldn't decide which generation of distress marker stamping I liked better, so I layered them on top of each other.. Nothing better than a little distress marker stamping!

a little bit more stamping, and distressing..this is the fun part.!

I then layered my stamped elements on top of my tag base, using some foam mounting tape to give some of the  elements a little extra height, and finished off by adding the word Dream, using yup you guessed it some of my favourite alphas  and star confetti from UmWow Studio and it was done!

and as always a couple of close ups...

The Details:

Tag Base : 7 Dots Studio:   Nature Walk

Stamps: Viva Las VegaStamps!:  Sunflowers, Line of Chevrons, Tall Mushroom,

Chipboard: UmWow Studio: Alpha One, Star Confetti

Inks etc. :Distress Markers: Forest Moss, Seedless Preserves.
Distress Ink : Pumice Stone
Archival Ink : Jet Black

Machine stitching.

I hope I have inspired you to join us and play along this month with the VLVS! Inspiration Board Challenge..

Happy creating!

Idea-ology Overload?

An idea-ology overload?  No way!!.....Happy Wednesday!!

I wanted  to share with you a tag I did over the weekend. This tag is full of everything that makes me smile.. all my favourites - A little Tim Holtz paper, a little Idea- ology.. ok well a lot of idea-ology..

I started off by cutting a tag base slightly smaller than a number 8 tag out of some paper from the Mini Collage paper stash, I then cut two tags out of some Tim Holtz Kraft resist paper. A number 8 tag and also a tag shape that was about a 1/4 larger on all side than the number 8 tag.  I then inked the edges of all three using a combination of Walnut Stain, Vintage Photo and Black Soot distress inks. The smaller and larger sized tags I then also machine stitched a border in black cotton around.  The next step was to layer the two smaller tags on top of each other. I then mounted them on top of the larger tag using some foam mounting tape squares.

The next part was the fun part.. yup, you guessed it ,pulling all my Tim Holtz idea-ology out, and digging around and playing in it until I found the right combination of bits and pieces to arrange on my tag..

I had a lovely time poking through my stash.. until I was happy with my choices. I then set about layering them onto my tag. yup, I actually am going to stick it down and use it.. giggle, not just hoard it and look at it.. Go on, admit it, I'm not the only one!!
I started off with some remanent rubs - I love these!! , a journaling ticket  and a fussy cut found relative. I just adore the look on her little face.. makes me wonder just what she was thinking? I used these as my base, and then just layered and clustered my other embellishments around , under and on top of these three main elements until I was happy with the final result.

and seeing as I have actually used some of my beloved stash, I will just have to share a couple of close ups as well :)

Here is a list of everything I've used to do this tag.. yup it's a little long and scary..
